Ben’s father is Ninth-generationwinemaker It was the culmination of a tenacious search for grapegrowing terroirto rival that of his native Bordeaux – but also the start of a new chapter in awinemaking story that has its roots in France in the early 1700s.Now son Ben – generation 10 – heads the winemakingteam.Ben’s learned a heck of a lot from his dad – and a heap from others, too.He has a degree in Oenology from Adelaide University and benefited early fromthe wisdom of Brian Croser and Con Moshos at Petaluma winery, where Bencompleted four vintages while still at university. He has worked with PhilippeBlanc of Bordeaux’s Château Beychevelle and in Reims with Louis Roederer. Inthe Rhône Valley, Ben specialised in the Syrah of Hermitage with M. Chapoutier.He’s combined this with a taste of progressive New World producers, spendingvintage at Warwick Estate in Stellenbosch and later travelling to the NapaValley to work at artisan St Helena winery Vineyard 29.
